Objectives

Amongst other aims, our constitution seeks to foster a greater awareness of the Turners’ Art & Craft, and to promote the art of Woodturning amongst both Woodturners and the General Public.  Consequently we have held, and will in the future, hold public demonstrations and exhibitions. In recent years we have had a presence at the local Campsie Show, the Creative Craft Show at the SECC and the Lanark Fruit Fair. At these venues we have presented members items of work, performed practical demonstrations and members of the public were encouraged to try turning and make some small items to take away.

At various times we have been invited to participate in various woodland related events, where we demonstrate woodturning, and give hands-on experience.

We meet once a month for a demonstration, and a Turn & Tell session, and in addition we hold regular beginner training sessions.

Our present membership, which is open to all includes members from as far afield as the Firth of Clyde, Firth of Forth and Perthshire in addition to more local members.  Membership is now over 30.  Due to the size of our current premises, our maximum is set at 35.
