I have been doing wood work since classes in primary school, but got interested in woodturning after visiting one of my cousins after I retired in 2007.  But then it was not until late 2011, after visiting a demo of woodturning at Crathie Caste, that I ordered a lathe and necessary tool to try this at home. At the same time I also became a member of Strathclyde Woodturners.
