Darren Crisp
I decided to give woodturning a try in 2011, I researched equipment and bought my first lathe, since then my workshop has grown and so has my passion.
I have been very fortunate to spend a lot of time time training with the world class turner Tracy Owen and recently with Master Turner Stuart Mortimer, I have learnt a lot about tool technique, design, form, colouring, texturing and spiral work.
My work is varied, which I love, bowls, hollow forms, platters, boxes, pens, goblets, anything that can be turned; I like to work with texturing, colouring and sandblasting, sometimes combining some or all of these. I also love spiral work, this is something I’m spending more time developing.
In 2018 I completed the Association of Woodturners of Great Britain and the Worshipful Company of Woodturners award ‘Certificate in Woodturning’ and I’m an AWGB Approved Tutor.
